I haven't been as diligent about posting these last two weeks and that's mostly because I've been busy either actually studying or goofing off. (I'd like to think mostly studying though...)
So here's a brief summary of what's been happening the last two weeks
- I went to see an interpretive dance about the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. It was really interesting - they tried to capture the attacks and the slow but steady rebuild of our society since the attacks, and I thought they did a good job.
- The Miss America news reached my ears and I was immediately in a bitter mood. I was super proud that she was Indian - and South Indian, at that (hooray!) - but I was really disappointed that the few Americans on Twitter completely tore her apart. It's outrageous that people in this country today still have medieval mindsets and openly declare their hate in a country that supposedly prides itself on equality and diversity.
Anyway...
- Then this weekend I went home! It was a little strange being home again but it was a welcomed change of scenery for once and I got to spend some quality time with the family. We went to this super hipster place for brunch on Sunday called Busboys and Poets and I felt like it should have been more of a movie set than an actual restaurant - even the name sounds like a movie to me. But the food was great and very veggie friendly :)
- I had an assortment of tests this week in Psychology, Statistics and American Studies. It wasn't too bad but I'd forgotten how much I stress out over these things. I guess I'll find out the results of my stressing soon.
- My Eastern Religions professor assigned us a research paper on any eastern religion of our choice, except I was banned from doing Hinduism because I'm already very familiar with it. So I've decided to do Buddhism and I'm pretty excited to be able to share it with the class when I'm finished.
- I'm part of the social media group for the school's newspaper along with being a photographer. I get new assignments weekly and I'll try posting about it as I finish them.
- This Friday, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts are performing at my university! I'm super excited and definitely plan to attend. You can definitely expect a post on this.
- Lastly, I seem to have caught the flu bug. It's been going around campus but I'm pretty sure I caught it from my sister while I was home. :( I've never been sick away from home before - even in India, I never actually fell ill surprisingly! So I mostly look and sound like a grumpy old lady to the rest of my hall mates but hopefully I won't be sick for long.
So that's what's been going on lately. Nothing too exciting, but I'm sure I'll have better things to talk about in the coming week.
