How rude of me, I forgot to mention Diwali in my last post.
To those of you who don't know what Diwali is, you are missing out my friend. It's an Indian holiday that celebrates the festival of lights. You get new clothes, eat a lot of food, and burst a lot of fireworks. It's the best! (There's obviously more to it than that, but those are highlights, so if you want to know more - go here)
This time last year, I was in India celebrating Diwali with my wonderful host family. I miss them so much and I had such a great time living with them. We burst a series of fireworks on the roof of their house and another long set of 1000 that we burst on the street. It was quite the spectacle and even though I received some unfriendly burns, it was totally worth it! Since it is the festival of lights, we also lit candles and lamps around the inside and outside of the house. We ate till we could no longer stand and watched the typical Indian movie that was so predictable and filled with cliches.
Ahh good times. :)
This year I'm on my own for Diwali but I'll be going home to celebrate it with my folks!
Since I'm not allowed to have candles or any other 'fire hazard' in my dorm, this is my feeble attempt at decorating my dorm for the festivities this year and it accounts for Halloween, Diwali, Christmas, New Years and my birthday - so it'll be up here for a while.
