I may have totally forgotten about this blog for the past month, keeping myself busy with work and other things. So here's to another series of updates on my life in short but hopefully humorous snippets!
So where did I last leave off...
Oh yes. The henna. So, the lady never got back to me and I haven't really seen her around campus so I kind gave up on that (I wasn't really expecting anything anyway).
In other news, I attended a free yoga class which inspired me to buy myself a yoga mat and do yoga at least twice a week. I don't attend the classes, I just do it on my own watching YouTube videos. At least I get some form of exercise and the hour long session is extremely peaceful at the beginning and end of every week.
This was especially worthwhile during midterms week, which actually wasn't as bad as I thought. I only had one midterm for my Eastern Religions class which was a breeze and I totally aced it (yay!). I've had a bit of a struggle with some of my other classes but I'm learning that college does not practice spoon feeding.
You get minimal assistance in class and a majority of your free time is spent studying everything the teacher failed to cover. I was a little annoyed at first, thinking it was the teachers' fault for not teaching adequately (because after all, we do pay A LOT of money to receive a college education) but then realized we only have about 16 weeks to learn an entire course worth of material, so the teachers have every right to try to get as much accomplished in a 75 minute class as possible. The rest, unfortunately, is up to the student to learn.
Therefore, a majority of my time is spent either in my room or at the library studying. My schedule on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are very flexible. I only have two consecutive classes from 8-10am, giving me the entire day to myself. I spend a majority of my Mondays and Wednesdays knocking out work for the rest of the week so my Fridays are free.
If college has taught me anything, it's time management skills. I was never one to manage my time efficiently. I reigned Queen of Procrastination all through my school years, finishing papers and projects at 3 or 4 in the morning. It was a disaster for both my grades and my well-being. It's why I look like a zombie now. Thankfully, I'm no longer like that! I sound super nerdy when I say this, but my planner is my best friend. I am the most forgetful person in the world. I can't remember anything to save my life, so if I ever misplaced my planner I would probably have a panic attack.
Now along with my mental organization, I've also surprisingly become super clean. My room at home looks like the aftermath of a natural disaster (and my dad can verify this) but my dorm room looks fabulous. I can't understand why I feel the need to keep it so clean, but I just do. It's not always in perfect condition, I do destroy it throughout the week but I always tidy it up every few days.
It's really strange and I don't know where all this organization skills came from but I'm happy and I hope it doesn't go away.
